Duck lanes have been introduced to canal paths in several British cities. The lanes have a ducks painted on them, but organizers the Canal & River Trust don’t expect the birds to stick to the lanes. Instead the aim is to encourage people travelling Britain’s narrow canal towpaths to look out for other human or animal users. Many of Britain’s canals have been spruced up in recent years, and the towpaths are popular with walkers, joggers and cyclists. The lanes have been installed in London, Birmingham and Manchester.
