Vespas that were built before 1999 have been banned from the streets of Genoa in northern Italy between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Friday in an attempt to reduce air pollution.

The city’s 20,000 scooter riders aren’t happy with the decision, particularly considering Genoa is the birthplace of Vespa inventor Enrico Piaggio, and have started a campaign on Twitter under the hashtag #lamiavespanonsitocca, meaning ‘don’t touch my Vespa’. Read more: telegraph.co.uk
