Upmarket sushi chain opens new restaurant in Doha

Nobu Doha, the upscale sushi restaurant chain’s largest and newest outpost, had its grand opening earlier this month.

The restaurant is the latest development in both the rapidly expanding Nobu portfolio and Doha itself. Nobu now has 32 restaurants worldwide (with more on the way), while Qatar’s capital is experiencing a burst of construction in advance of the nation hosting the 2022 World Cup (which, yes, is still happening).

Located at the Four Seasons Doha’s private marina, the 26,000–square-foot, three-story Nobu Doha offers a panoramic view encompassing both the Arabian Gulf (also known as the Persian Gulf) and the city’s modern skyline.

Nobu Doha’s opening is just one of many developments in Doha of interest to travelers. The IM Pei-designed Museum of Islamic Art—with a stunning dome-topped atrium and view of modern Doha, it’s a piece of art itself—opened in 2008. 2010 saw the inauguration of the Arab Museum of Modern Art. And the National Museum of Qatar is slated to launch in 2016. The first phase of the city’s metro transit should open in 2019.
