Manuel Molina, one of Spain’s most beloved and respected flamenco composers, singers and guitarists, has died in Seville after losing a battle with cancer, aged 67. Spanish newspaper El Pais has described the musician as ‘one of the fundamental figures of flamenco’. Molina is credited with developing the flamenco fusion music genre with his partner Lole Montoya. His coffin was borne through the streets of Seville after his death on Tuesday and has been moved to the city’s Teatro Romero, where fans of his music have been invited to come and say their goodbyes.
