A proposed ban on wild camping across one of Scotland’s most popular national parks has been criticised.

Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park is popular with walkers, climbers and watersports enthusiasts, and the loch at its heart is Britain’s largest lake. Current proposals suggest banning wild camping on the west side of Loch Lomond as well as around lochs Long, Ard, Venachar, Lubnaig, Earn and Voil. Access to land for walkers and campers is enshrined in Scotland’s culture, and laws on the matter are more liberal than they are elsewhere in the UK. Broadcaster Cameron McNeish says the decision is being made by politicians with no background in outdoor activities. Ministers claim the change will reduce litter and anti-social behaviour.
