McMenamins, a hospitality company specializing in breweries, historic hotels and music venues in the Pacific Northwest, has entered talks with Tacoma officials about opening a new boutique hotel.
McMenamins wants to turn Old City Hall into a 60-room hotel complete with several bars and meeting spaces in the downtown location. The hotel bars will highlight the building’s jailhouse, clock tower and rooftop terrace. The mayor of Tacoma, Marilyn Strickland, said she looks forward to breathing new life into the aging building and hopes that the project will boost the city’s economy. Read more: king5.com
