The much-anticipated light rail system to be constructed between Phuket International Airport and Chalong, in the island’s south, will reach a speed of 100km/hr and service 23 stations along its 60km route, according to new details unveiled by Thai transport bosses.
A 150m skywalk connecting a station with the airport will also be built. The new light rail line on the holiday island, known for its traffic congestion and pricey taxi fares, is expected to be fully functional by 2021.
