The announcement that the final 43km of Larrapinta Drive, between Hermannsburg and Glen Helen, of the Meenie Loop is going to be completely sealed was welcomed by tourism groups in the Northern Territory. This will make it possible to drive the 1335 km  Red Centre Way, linking attractions like Uluru and King’s Canyon, in a two-wheel drive vehicle. The project will take two years and is expected to bring economic benefits with increased visitor traffic and new tourism employment opportunities for Aboriginal people in his home of Hermannsburg.
