Mérida, on Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, is already well known as one of the country’s cultural hubs and a new music venue being built in the city will help reinforce that status.

Work on the Palace of Music has just begun in Mérida’s historic centre and when it opens, the building ‘will house the voices, sounds, and traditional and popular arrangements of Mexico’ according to the local governor. Along with a 400-seat concert hall, the building will also house the National Center of Mexican Music. It’s due to open in about a year’s time. Read more: mexiconewsdaily.com
