According to a new law passed in the parliament of Moldova, this eastern European country will celebrate a National Folk Clothing Day on the last Sunday in June.

The idea came from the Ministry of Culture which considers the folk clothing an important representation of the nation and points out that modern fashion designers around the world get their inspiration from folk costumes as well. The new holiday is also expected to promote ethnic harmony in Moldova, as folk costumes of all ethnic groups in the country will be celebrated as part of the national day.
