The famous Egremni beach on the Greek island of Lefkada has disappeared after the 6.1-magnitude earthquake which hit the Ionian island on 17 November.

The west-coast beach has been voted one of the most beautiful not only in Greece but in the whole world, with a remote location, turquoise water and only reachable via the 347 steep steps leading down from a 150m-high cliff. According to media reports, the earthquake caused massive landslides which changed the landscape of the coast. The island’s authorities have declared a state of emergency due to continuing earthquake aftershocks.
