A hand-made bomb went off near Istanbul’s central Bayrampaşa metro station on Tuesday evening, injuring five and leading to the evacuation of the area.
The bomb was stowed on an overpass by the station, which is in a residential neighbourhood on the European side of Istanbul. No organisation has claimed responsibility for the bombing, which follows suicide bombings in the Turkish capital Ankara in October and explosions near the Syrian border in July.
