Professional pilot, airline executive and heavy metal singer Bruce Dickinson has signed a memorandum of understanding with Air Djibouti to redevelop the national airline for the East African nation. Dickinson co-founded Cardiff Aviation – an aircraft maintenance business – in 2012, and the company is now to manage Air Djibouti’s European air operator’s certificate, as well procure aircraft, provide technical support and operational management. Air Djibouti was originally created in 1963 but ceased operation in 2002. Dickinson believes Djibouti’s location in the Horn of Africa offers a unique hub for investment from Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Read more: theguardian.com
