The film censorship board of India has cut kissing scenes from the new James Bond film Spectre as these were considered inappropriate for Indian audiences, leading to a storm of condemnation on social media.
The hashtag #SanskariJamesBond – from the Hindi word for ‘virtuous’ – has been used to tweet a string of doctored images making Bond ‘more Indian’, as a satire on the censorship decision. Photos of Daniel Craig, photoshopped with Hindu vibhuti (sacred ash) markings on his forehead, have been one of the most popular subjects. Read more: bbc.co.uk
