Hong Kong to shame litterbugs on billboards

A new initiative in Hong Kong aims to shame litterers by showing their faces to the world. The project runs DNA collected from chewing gum, cigarette butts and used tissues dropped by litterers through facial recognition software. The programme creates a digital face which is then projected on billboards in high-traffic areas like bus stops and MTR stations. Hong Kong hopes the public shaming element of the campaign will deter its citizens from tossing their litter on the ground. Read more: shanghaiist.com
