The residents of Waimanalo are fed up with commercial activity around local beach parks, and now they’ve found a member of city council who’s willing to help. In a recent bill put forward by City Councilman Ikaika Anderson, commercial activity would be banned from five Waimanalo parks. The ban would largely affect tour buses, which residents say clog up the parks. Currently, tour buses are only allowed to drop off or pick up passengers during 15 minute periods, but locals say these time limits are often ignored. The parks include Waimanalo Bay Beach Park, Waimanalo Beach Park, Kaiona Beach Park, Kaupo Beach Park and Makapuu Beach Park. Similar legislation has passed successfully on O‘ahu. Read more: kitv.com
