A number of new Greek island destinations will be included in cruise-ship itineraries for 2016. They include the following islands: Chios, Ios, Kos, Milos, Samos,Symi and Syros.

Companies are also looking at adding the eastern Peloponnese to their cruise destinations. Plans to develop necessary infrastructure for luxury cruise liners are in place, and there are already projects for ports on the islands such as Corfu, Crete and Patmos. The European cruise market is experiencing a significant growth with 42 Europe-based companies operating 123 liners. However, most Greek ports have insufficient infrastructure when it comes to accommodating large cruise ships.
