Train drivers have agreed to return to work in Germany at 7pm on Thursday after Deutsche Bahn and the union GDL agreed to take part in mediation. Deutsche Bahn has said that “millions of rail passengers can breathe a sigh of relief”, but union representatives have underlined that fresh strikes would be planned if mediation does not resolve the dispute over pay and working hours.
