The Pacific Ocean weather system known as El Niño could provide much needed relief to drought-stricken California in the coming months. The system is known to bring heavy rainfall to the area and scientists are saying that the developments they’re monitoring in the Pacific at the moment indicate an 80% or higher chance of El Niño continuing through the autumn and winter, going some way to replenishing California’s severely diminished water supplies.
