El Niño brings good and bad news for California

In a state that has been suffering its worst drought in recorded history, you’d think that the prospect of lots of rain would be a good thing, but the long-anticipated arrival of the El Niño weather system and the storms it brings with it, is a mixed blessing for parched California.

While steady rainfall and heavy snow in the mountains will help replenish the state’s water supplies, years of dry conditions mean that sudden large amounts of water will create the possibility of dangerous mudslides and damage to property. Read more: latimes.com
