Tourists visiting Edinburgh at peak times could have a £1-per-night charge added to their hotel bill.
The city’s August festival season and Hogmanay celebrations in late December would be included in the charge. The measure is being considered as part of a ‘city deal’ that aims to generate tourism funds for the city, and aims to raise up to £15 million a year. A similar plan was rejected in 2011.
