A Christmas commercial by Coca-Cola in Mexico has had to be dropped after indigenous groups took offence at it.
The ad showed non-indigenous Mexicans visiting an indigenous community in the region of Oaxaca and handing out the fizzy drink – which has been blamed for the high obesity rates of local people, some of the worst in the country. Coke said that the aim of the commercial had been misunderstood but the ad has been dropped in the face of the opposition. Read more: theguardian.com
