The railway authority of China  has proposed building a high-speed rail line that would connect Beijing with Tehran, Iran.

The line would follow the old Silk Road route through Central Asia, passing through Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan before arriving in Iran. If built, the line would utilise an under-construction high-speed rail line that will eventually connect Beijing with Xinjiang province  in far northwest China. Read more: shanghaiist.com
