A flight from Berlin to the Egyptian beach resort of Hurghada has made an unscheduled landing in Hungary and is being checked for explosives after police received information about a bomb threat.
Hungarian police spokeswoman Viktoria Csiszer-Kovacs said explosives experts are inspecting the unidentified airplane, its passengers and luggage.
She would not identify the source of the information about the bomb threat, but said police are following “established protocol” for what she said was “not an extraordinary situation”.
Operations at Budapest’s Ferenc Liszt Airport were not affected by the unexpected landing, police said.
