A blind elderly dog fell into a well several metres deep near Bosnia’s capital Sarajevo and survived there a month, thanks to scraps of food thrown down to it by local children.
The sad story has a happy ending though, as animal rescuer Fahrudin Caki Bravo and his friend Ratko Koblar came to the animal’s aid just in time for Christmas. The pair drove for hours to reach the well and then descended on a rope into the darkness, attached harness to the dog, and hoisted it back out of the well. The dog, who has been named ‘Christmas’, is now looking for a safe and loving home. Read more: upi.com
