The singer Björk has spoken out against energy plans that could see Iceland build a high-voltage underwater cable stretching to Britain.

The Icelandic government’s proposals include harnessing waterfalls and volcanoes in the country’s Central Highlands to produce energy that could be exported. Opponents of the scheme, who also include the writer Andri Snær Magnason, say that the plans threaten Iceland’s unique natural environment and wildlife. Read more: icenews.is
