One of the world’s most famous orchestras, The Berlin Philharmonic, is set to vote on who will become the successor to the current Artistic Director, Sir Simon Rattle, when he stands down in 2018. Conductor Rattle has held the position since 2002, but is leaving to take up a post at the London Symphony Orchestra. His replacement will be announced on 11 May. The Berlin Philharmonic is regarded by some as the world’s best, and recently made the ground-breaking step of streaming its concerts online from its Digital Concert Hall. Read more: thelocal.de
