Australia Day emoji launched by Twitter

Twitter Australia unveiled an Australia Day emoji today that will auto-generate when users tag #AustraliaDay in their tweets.

The emoji shows a koala wearing green and gold sunglasses which one punter described as a koala trying to hide a hangover. The National Museum of Australia in Canberra will display live tweets using the #AustraliaDay hashtag in a digital exhibition and store them in a time capsule at the museum for future generations. Museum director Mathew Trinca said tweets would become a permanent visual record of celebrations across the country. Read more: abc.net.au
