Spring is in the air and one of Ireland’s most natural beauty spots and tourist attractions in county Clare’s Burren region is beginning to bloom.
And by the time the ‘Burren in Bloom’ festival begins on the last day of this month until 18 May, it will have become a sea of vibrant colours.
The festival with a difference celebrates dawn choruses, grassland safaris, wolf talks and treks along Neolithic winterage paths which are being organised by Burrenbeo (Burren Alive).
This group works in tandem with local farmers to ensure the prehistoric agricultural landscape are kept intact for future generations.
The Irish Independent reports that walks take place on Wednesdays and Sundays while talks occur every Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The Festival’s aim is to give the local and visiting public a deeper appreciation of the region on the west coast.
The Burren is a major source of botanical, cultural and archaeological wealth due to its exclusive range of wild flowers and ancient sites.
