Viola Colombo, an Italian woman who found 15 million lira in secret compartment of an old chest of drawers she bought on eBay, has won the right to convert her find into legal tender.

She discovered 150 100,000-lira notes in a drawer with a false bottom, but the bank refused to convert her haul into euros, citing a December 2011 decree banning lira conversions from that date. Colombo appealed and the decree was found to be unconstitutional, so she will now be allowed to exchange the stash for €7,750.
