World Surf League contest kicks off in Rio

The Oi Rio Pro surfing competition began on Tuesday in Barra da Tijuca’s Postinho. Rio de Janeiro is the fourth stop on the Samsung Galaxy Championship tour in the men’s and women’s competition. This is the first event of the year outside of Australia and many spectators are expected to attend and cheer on the Brazilian contestants. The competition runs until 22 May.
