A wild moose

For years a wildlife shelter in British Columbia has battled tick infestations on wild moose, which can cause infections and spread disease. Previously, the only answer was to tranquilise and trap the animals, and then apply insecticide to kill the ticks, but this was dangerous for moose and humans alike. The shelter has proposed filling paintball pellets with the insecticide and shooting the moose from a distance. The owner of the shelter says she got the idea from her son, who is an avid paintballer. The shelter hasn’t been able to find a source to manufacture the modified paintball pellets, but the idea has people interested. Read more: cbc.ca
