The Whistler Blackcomb ski resort has announced it will use RFID (radio frequency identification device) scanners to create timed hiking trails. The resort’s 360 Pass features an RFID antenna that can be detected by scanners along the trail. The completion times will be automatically updated to the resort’s website, where hikers can compete for the best time. Top running and hiking times will be posted for visitors to compete against.
