Residents of Windy Harbour, a small village south of Perth on the fringe of the D’Entrecasteaux National Park, have been evacuated to the beach while firefighters continue to battle a nearby blaze that has been burning for six days. People were ‘advised to seek shelter at the beach and take directions from the caretaker, John Old’. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) is looking at rescuing the residents by boat. The towns of Northcliffe, Parkview, Bracken Rise and Double Bridge are also under threat from the bushfire, which doubled in size on Tuesday night.
