Spring is coming a little late this year. The National Park Service has announced the predicted dates when Washington DC’s famous pink cherry blossoms will be in peak bloom, and this year that will be between 11 April and 14 April. This is slightly later than the average peak bloom date of 4 April and comes at the end of the annual National Cherry Blossom Festival which is scheduled for 20 March until 12 April. The three-week event commemorates Japan’s gift of 3000 cherry trees to the city in 1912 with cultural fairs, a parade and walks by lantern light around the Tidal Basin. Read more: washingtonpost.com
