The Indian state of Uttar Pradesh has unveiled plans for a new walking trail that recreates the final journey of the Buddha. The trail links a series of sacred Buddhist sites between Vaishali and Kushinara, where Gautama Siddhartha, the historical Buddha, died in the fifth century BC. Officials have modelled the walk on successful European pilgrimage trails such as the Camino de Santiago, and the project is funded by the World Bank. Read more: timesofindia.indiatimes.com
