The University of Puerto Rico, in conjunction with the Vida Marina organization, the Center for Coastal Ecology Restoration, and the Department of Recreation and Sports, has announced that they will be establishing a protected nesting area for sea turtles in the town of Añasco.

The agreement will allow the both students and faculty to use national park facilities for research and other educational purposes, as well as preservation efforts for the local turtles. The facilities included in the agreement are the Juan A. Rivero Zoo, the Caverns of Camuy River Park, the Monte del Estado Park, and the Villas de Añasco Holiday Center.
