Unisex toilets baffle ‘gender equal’ Swedes

Visitors to the new library in Umeå, northern Sweden, have been caught short by the signage on the unisex toilets. Despite the fact that Sweden is one of the most gender equal countries in the world, the labelling showing both a man and a woman, with arrows pointing either way, has apparently confused many visitors in their time of need. Nevertheless, response to the unisex facilities has been generally positive, although library staff conceded that if confusion persists, they may have to consider alternative signs.
