Ride-sharing service Uber has stopped its free ride programme and discount UberX services in South Korea amid claims that the service is illegal in the country. Uber launched the programme two weeks ago, initially giving rides away for free in an apparent bid to garner brand awareness and new business. However, regulators in Seoul and the city’s taxi industry have claimed Uber’s services are illegal. The company plans to continue its non-discount Uber Black services, but only for foreigners and disabled passengers. Read more: chosun.com
