The transportation minister for British Columbia says ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft are “inevitable” in the province.
Todd Stone’s comments come after months of government promises to stop the services from entering the province, citing safety and insurance concerns. The services, which use smartphone apps to connect users with private vehicles for hire, have been introduced to other Canadian cities, but they have been met with similar government restrictions.
