Typhoon Maysak, a category-five storm that is sweeping across the northwest Pacific, is predicted to make landfall in the Philippines this weekend. The typhoon has caused the deaths of at least nine people in Micronesia, where the extent of damage from the up to 300km/hr gusts is still being assessed. Authorities believe the storm will weaken to a category-two typhoon when it reaches land. Public in the Philippines, where the typhoon is known as Chedeng, have been warned about possible flash flooding and storm surges.
