A controversial Toronto rule preventing food trucks from operating within 50m of a standing restaurant has been redrafted to change the distance to 30m. The fight centered on resistance from brick-and-mortar restaurants, who say allowing food trucks to set up too close to restaurants could create a chaotic environment. Critics of the 50m rule say it unfairly blocked food trucks from entering downtown, the likeliest arena for them to operate.
