Titanic sails past Eiffel Tower to become top attraction in Europe

Titanic Belfast has sailed into top spot to become the best visitor attraction in Europe – beating off such iconic places as the Eiffel Tower on the way.

Judges at the European Group Travel Awards event in Berlin gave the accolade to the Belfast attraction which also had to beat off tough competition from Claude Monet’s grand gardens and the London Eye.

The Belfast Telegraph reports that Simon Calder, travel writer and broadcaster,  said the investment sunk into Titanic Belfast was now paying dividends. Such an achievement, he added, meant that the Titanic was getting worldwide attention because the site had become ” a world-class attraction on a breathtaking scale.”
