It’s back to holiday day-dreaming for most this week, as everyone is back in work, but some are expected to act upon their hopeful musings! Expedia believes that 8 January  is to be its busiest day for people booking vacation breaks, whilst Thomson and First Choice believe that tomorrow will be their busiest day, dubbing it ‘Sunshine Saturday’.

According to Expedia, because it’s the first week that many people are back to work and due to the poor weather, today is going to be one of its best days for online bookings. It expects its number one most booked destination today will be New York, closely followed by Rome, Amsterdam, and Barcelona.

Thomson and First Choice think that over one million people will be using their websites tomorrow to book themselves sun holidays for later on in the year. Bookings are predicted to peak from 2-3pm while online purchases are expected to reach their highest level at 8pm.

Commercial director of Thomson, Andrew Flintham, told UK newspaper The Mirror that January was a particularly good month for bookings usually. “Many people like to book their holidays early to give them something to look forward to in the year ahead,” he said. “January is one of the best times to book as there are some fantastic deals available as well as thousands of free child places to a broad range of hotels and destinations.”
