A new and thrilling escape room based on the action-adventure movie Tomb Raider is in London. The attraction will be filled with actual film sets where participants will be required to uncover the mysterious Tomb of the Mother of Death.
Tickets for the experience were shared in a competition by Warner Bros and the escape room runs until 20 March. It has already hosted fans who want to “unleash their inner Lara Croft”. The multi-room experience is inspired by the new film and lasts 30 minutes and uses props to enhance the adventure that has been created in consultation with the Tomb Raider filmmakers, including production designer Gary Freeman, who also worked on Maleficent.
Spanning over three floors and 1500 feet, it combines ancient puzzles with physical objects, technology, cutting edge sound and light effects. It’s said that contestants will be able to explore the sets and “take on physical and mental challenges that Lara faces.” While the location is being kept under wraps, it’s described as being an “arrow shot away” from some of the movie’s filming locations in East London, Brick Lane, and the Nomadic Gardens.
Based on the story of the 2013 video game of the same name along with the characters from the long-running Tomb Raider franchise, the film opened in cinemas on 15 March and stars Alicia Vikander as the formidable Lara Croft. Dominic West stars as Lord Croft and Daniel Wu and Walton Goggins will also play prominent roles. It was directed by Roar Uthaug and written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Alastair Siddons, from a story by Evan Daugherty and Robertson-Dworet.
