The Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) of Taiwan has stated that Songshan airport will continue operating until 2030, despite what Taipei Vice Mayor Charles Lin said previously.

The CAA said that Songshan would remain open for domestic flights and military and emergency use until the completion of Taoyuan International Airport’s third runway in 2030. This counters Lin’s statement made at a forum for presidential candidates on Tuesday in which he suggested that the airport should close by 2020. Work has not yet begun on Taoyuan’s planned extension as the city government has yet to acquire the necessary land for the project. Read more: chinapost.com.tw
