An enormous glass shoe church has been built in Taiwan to attract female worshippers.
Completed last week in the Ocean View Park in Budai, the church is made from 122 pieces of blue glass and is 55 feet tall and 36 feet wide. It took two months to build the enormous construction and it resembles in many ways a Disney princess slipper!
Zheng Rongfeng, a spokesperson for the Southwest Coast National Scenic Area, told local news website Huanqiu.com, that church had “100 female-oriented features” in order to attract “female worshippers”.
The church offers cakes, biscuits, and a “lovers’ chair” for newly-married couples taking wedding photos. It’s set to open to the public on 8 February to coincide with the Chinese New Year which is celebrated in Taiwan.
The giant shoe church is sure to attract a lot of people, but perhaps they won’t be either worshippers nor will they be mainly female.
