Residents and skiers in the tiny hamlet of Cervinia in Italy’s Valle D’Aosta alpine region were given a scare on Tuesday, when a huge cloud of powdery snow engulfed the town, blocking out the sun for minutes.
The cloud was caused by an avalanche, but fortunately the 300-metre wide slab of snow stopped short of the town. Although the cloud scared a lot of people, in the end it caused no damage.
