Is Staten Island on the way to becoming NYC’s hippest new borough?  The announcement that Staten Island has appointed its first resident urban farmer is a strong indication this little island is undergoing a big change.

Urby is a new retail and residential development slated for SI’s Stapleton neighborhood. The resident farmer will grow food, tend beehives, and manage composting for the development. The food grown here will be used by on-site restaurants and sold to residents. Read more at: gothamist.com
