Anyone getting sick of both the Christmas and Star Wars-hype beware; a home in the US is now showing a truly astounding Star Wars/Christmas mash-up in the form of a 70,000-light display.
Youtube user Tom BetGeorge posted a video of a front-lawn light show set to various musical themes from the epic films – including a jaunty segment to the Cantina Band song.
The home, in Tracy, Calif., is equipped with spotlights, a light up tree, singing Christmas tree lights, giant musical instruments and more. The professional music director even synched up the giant instruments to play the correct notes.
According to the video description, the show runs Friday to Sunday from 6 to 9 pm, and Tom BetGeorge gives a shout out to the neighbours who allow the show to go on.
If you’re still a Christmas and Star Wars-Scrooge, the display is also helping to raise money for a local homeless shelter if people want to donate.
While some people wonder what the display has to do with Christmas, Tom BetGeorge writes: “In all reality, what do any of our traditions have to really do with Christmas? There were no lights or even a tree to decorate when Jesus was born. I do this because it brings families together to enjoy something for free while raising thousands of dollars for those who are in need.”
The description also notes that 99% of the lights are LED and the cost of electricity for the show for one month is only $80.
